catch basin
Roadside water collector
A catch basin is a drainage structure that collects rainwater and runoff, typically a basin set into the ground with a grate on top.
Found along streets, in parking lots, and at low points where water accumulates, catch basins trap debris and sediment before water flows into storm drains: Leaves clogged the catch basin after the storm.
