casemaker

Builds protective enclosures

A casemaker is someone who makes cases—typically protective covers for books, instruments, or other objects.

In bookbinding specifically, a casemaker constructs the hard covers that protect bound pages.

The term also applies in entomology to larvae that build protective cases around themselves, like caddisfly larvae: The casemaker spun silk and debris into a portable shelter.
