cabooses

Rear rail cars

Cabooses is the plural of caboose, the small car at the rear of a freight train that once housed the crew.

The caboose has largely disappeared from American railroads, replaced by electronic monitoring.

Informally, caboose means someone's rear end: Get your caboose off the couch.
