Bunds are embankments or levees, especially those built to control water flow or prevent flooding.
The term appears most often in South Asian contexts, where bunds are common features of irrigation and flood management: The rice paddies were separated by low earthen bunds.
In finance, Bunds (capitalized) are German government bonds, from the German word for federation.
