bullsnakes

Nonvenomous prairie serpents

Bullsnakes are large, nonvenomous North American snakes that kill prey by constriction.

They're often mistaken for rattlesnakes due to similar coloring and their habit of hissing loudly and vibrating their tails when threatened.

Bullsnakes are valued by farmers for controlling rodent populations.

Also called gopher snakes.
