bullsnake

Harmless rattler mimic

A bullsnake is a large, nonvenomous North American snake that kills prey by constriction.

Bullsnakes are often mistaken for rattlesnakes—they have similar coloring and will hiss, flatten their heads, and vibrate their tails when threatened.

They're valued by farmers for controlling rodent populations: We leave the bullsnakes alone because they keep the mice down.
