brake cable
Bicycle deceleration line
A brake cable is the wire cord that connects a brake lever to the braking mechanism on a bicycle, motorcycle, or similar vehicle.
When squeezed, the lever pulls the cable, which activates the brake pads against the wheel.
The bike wouldn't stop properly because the brake cable had frayed.
