biomethane
Organic waste fuel
Biomethane is methane gas produced from organic matter—agricultural waste, sewage, food scraps—rather than extracted from fossil fuel deposits.
The production process captures methane that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere, making it a renewable energy source: The facility converts farm waste into biomethane for the local grid.
Also called renewable natural gas.
