back extension
Posterior chain exercise
Back extension is an exercise that strengthens the lower back and posterior chain.
Lying face down on the floor or a specialized bench, you raise your torso by contracting the muscles along your spine: Do three sets of back extensions to finish your workout.
The term also describes the movement itself—arching the spine backward.
