autograph

Fan's prized memento

An autograph is a person's signature, especially a famous person's, sought as a memento: She waited outside the stadium to get autographs from the players.

The word also means any document written in the author's own hand—the original manuscript rather than a copy.

As a verb, to autograph is to sign something: He autographed my baseball.
