aspirated

Said with breath

Aspirated describes a sound produced with an audible puff of breath, like the "p" in "pin" compared to the softer "p" in "spin." In medicine, aspirated means something has been drawn out by suction or inhaled into the airways: The patient aspirated fluid into her lungs.

To aspirate is to perform either action—pronounce with breath or remove by suction.
