aspirating
Inhaling into lungs
Aspirating is drawing in by suction, particularly breathing something into the lungs or airways.
In medicine, it describes both the dangerous inhalation of foreign material—The patient was at risk of aspirating food into her lungs—and the deliberate withdrawal of fluid using a needle or tube.
In phonetics, aspirating a consonant means pronouncing it with an audible puff of breath, as with the "p" in "pin."
