alpha female
Dominant woman figure
An alpha female is a woman who is dominant, assertive, and takes charge in social or professional settings.
The term borrows from animal behavior studies describing dominant females in pack hierarchies, though it's often applied loosely to any confident, ambitious woman: She's a total alpha female—runs every meeting she's in.
The phrase can be admiring or dismissive depending on context.
