Aromatic resinous timber
Aloeswood is the dark, fragrant heartwood of certain Southeast Asian trees, prized for incense and perfume.
The resin develops when the tree becomes infected with mold, transforming ordinary pale wood into something dense and aromatic.
Also called agarwood or oudh, it ranks among the world's most expensive natural materials: The temple filled with the scent of burning aloeswood.
