Zapata
Mexican peasant leader
Zapata most often refers to Emiliano Zapata (1879–1919), the Mexican revolutionary leader who fought for agrarian reform and peasant rights.
His name appears in place names throughout Mexico and the American Southwest.
A Zapata mustache is thick, dark, and curves downward past the corners of the mouth—the style Zapata wore: He grew a Zapata mustache to complete the look.
