Yule tree
Decorated holiday conifer
A Yule tree is a Christmas tree—an evergreen decorated during the winter holiday season.
Yule is an old word for the Christmas period, from pre-Christian northern European winter festivals.
The term Yule tree emphasizes the pagan or secular tradition over the Christian one: We put up our Yule tree the week before solstice.
