VoiceOver

Apple's screen reader

VoiceOver is Apple's screen reader software, built into macOS and iOS devices.

It speaks aloud what appears on screen—text, buttons, menus—allowing blind and visually impaired users to navigate by listening rather than looking.

The term also refers generically to narration added to video or film, typically recorded separately from the visuals: The documentary relies heavily on voiceover to explain the historical context.
