Valley of the Kings

Egyptian royal tombs

The Valley of the Kings is an ancient Egyptian burial site on the Nile's west bank near Luxor, where pharaohs and nobles of the New Kingdom were entombed in rock-cut chambers.

The valley contains over sixty tombs, including that of Tutankhamun, discovered largely intact in 1922.

Tourists flock to the Valley of the Kings to see the painted tomb walls.
