The Strokes

The Strokes are an American rock band formed in New York City in 1998, credited with spearheading the early-2000s garage rock revival.

Their debut album *Is This It* (2001) became a touchstone for indie rock, influencing countless bands with its raw, stripped-down sound: The Strokes made it cool to sound like you recorded in a basement again.
