dive bars
Unglamorous drinking spots
Dive bars are unpretentious drinking establishments, typically small, dimly lit, and showing their age.
The appeal lies in cheap drinks, no dress code, and an atmosphere free of pretension.
What makes a bar a dive is partly condition—worn furniture, sticky floors—and partly clientele and attitude.
We ended up at some dive bar playing pool until 2 a.m.
