Sukkoth

Jewish autumn celebration

Sukkoth is a Jewish harvest festival commemorating the Israelites' wandering in the wilderness after the exodus from Egypt.

Celebrated in autumn, it lasts seven days during which observant Jews eat and sometimes sleep in temporary outdoor shelters called sukkahs—huts with roofs of branches or leaves open enough to see the sky.

Also spelled Sukkot or Succoth.
