Rastafarians

Dreadlocked Jamaican believers

Rastafarians are followers of Rastafari, a religious movement that emerged in Jamaica in the 1930s.

Central beliefs include the divinity of Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie I, the spiritual importance of Africa (especially Ethiopia) as a homeland, and the rejection of Western society ("Babylon").

Rastafarians are associated with dreadlocks, the sacramental use of cannabis, and reggae music: Bob Marley brought Rastafarian beliefs to a global audience.
