yuppies
Ambitious urban professionals
Yuppies is the plural of yuppie, a young urban professional—someone in their twenties or thirties with a well-paying white-collar job and conspicuous consumption habits.
The term emerged in the 1980s, often used disparagingly to suggest materialism and self-absorption: The neighborhood filled up with yuppies and their overpriced coffee shops.
