Ponce de Leon
Sought eternal youth
Ponce de León was a Spanish explorer who colonized Puerto Rico and led the first European expedition to Florida in 1513.
He is popularly associated with searching for a Fountain of Youth, though this connection emerged after his death and may be apocryphal.
The name appears in countless Florida place names: Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Ponce Inlet.
