Monster data catalog
A Pokédex is a fictional electronic encyclopedia in the Pokémon franchise that catalogs species of Pokémon.
In the games and television series, trainers use it to identify and learn about creatures they encounter.
The term has become shorthand for any exhaustive database of collectible items: He's building a Pokédex of every craft beer he's tried.
