Poitier
Sidney Poitier (1927–2022) was a Bahamian-American actor who became the first Black man to win the Academy Award for Best Actor, for *Lilies of the Field* (1963).
His dignified screen presence in films like *Guess Who's Coming to Dinner* and *In the Heat of the Night* made him a groundbreaking figure in Hollywood during the civil rights era.
