PICU

Children's critical care

PICU is the pediatric intensive care unit—a hospital ward providing critical care for infants, children, and adolescents.

Like the adult ICU, it handles the most severe cases requiring constant monitoring and life support: The baby was transferred to the PICU after the surgery.

Pronounced as initials (P-I-C-U) or sometimes as "pick-you."
