Périgord

Southwestern French province

Périgord is a historic region in southwestern France, roughly corresponding to the modern Dordogne department.

Known for its medieval castles, prehistoric cave paintings, and distinctive cuisine—particularly truffles, foie gras, and walnut oil.

Périgord black truffles are among the world's most prized.

The region divides into four color-coded areas: Périgord Noir (black), Blanc (white), Vert (green), and Pourpre (purple).
