Orion Nebula
Sword's fuzzy patch
The Orion Nebula is a massive cloud of gas and dust in the constellation Orion, visible to the naked eye as a fuzzy patch in the sword.
It's one of the nearest stellar nurseries to Earth, where new stars are actively forming.
Astronomers often use it as a benchmark for studying star formation: The Orion Nebula contains thousands of young stars.
