Normandy coast
Where Allies landed
The Normandy coast is the shoreline of Normandy in northwestern France, facing the English Channel.
The term most often evokes the D-Day landings of June 6, 1944, when Allied forces invaded Nazi-occupied Europe across five beaches: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword.
His grandfather landed on the Normandy coast.
The region also draws visitors to its cliffs, seaside towns, and World War II memorials.
