Micmac

Nova Scotia people

Micmac is an older spelling of Mi'kmaq, referring to a First Nations people indigenous to Canada's Atlantic provinces and parts of Quebec, as well as their Algonquian language.

The spelling Micmac was standard in English for centuries but has been largely replaced by Mi'kmaq, which better reflects the people's own pronunciation and preference: She studies Micmac history and culture.
