English settlers

New World emigrants

English settlers are people from England who established residence in territories outside England, particularly during the colonial era.

The phrase appears most often in discussions of North American colonization: English settlers arrived at Jamestown in 1607.

It distinguishes colonists by national origin from Dutch, Spanish, or French settlers in the same regions.
