Encino

Spanish for oak

Encino is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, California.

The name comes from Spanish for "oak tree," referring to the live oaks native to the area.

Once agricultural, it became a residential suburb in the mid-twentieth century: They bought a house in Encino.

The 1992 film *Encino Man* brought the name brief pop-culture recognition.
