Braeburn

New Zealand apple

Braeburn is a variety of apple, crisp and sweet-tart with distinctive red-orange striping over yellow-green skin.

Named after the New Zealand orchard where it was first commercially grown in the 1950s, Braeburns are popular for eating fresh and hold their shape well in baking: I picked up some Braeburns at the farmers market.
