Magi

Bethlehem's royal visitors

Magi is the plural of magus, referring to the priestly caste of ancient Persia associated with Zoroastrianism and credited with special knowledge of astrology and magic.

The word magic derives from their practices.

In Christian tradition, the Magi are the wise men from the East who followed a star to visit the infant Jesus, bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Though tradition names three Magi, the biblical account doesn't specify their number.
