magic circle
Summoner's protective ring
A magic circle is a ring drawn or inscribed on the ground for ritual purposes—historically used in ceremonial magic to protect practitioners or contain summoned spirits.
The term extends to any exclusive group whose members enjoy special access or privileges: She finally broke into the magic circle of senior partners.
In British law, the Magic Circle refers informally to the most prestigious London law firms.
