Lake Wobegon

Lake Wobegon is a fictional small town in Minnesota, created by Garrison Keillor for his radio program *A Prairie Home Companion*.

It's described as "the little town that time forgot," where "all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average." The Lake Wobegon effect describes the tendency to overestimate one's abilities relative to others—a statistical impossibility when everyone claims to be above average.
