Sodom and Gomorrah
Twin wicked cities
Sodom and Gomorrah were two biblical cities destroyed by God for their wickedness—traditionally interpreted as sexual depravity, though the specific sins vary by interpretation.
The names survive almost exclusively as symbols of divine punishment for immorality or as shorthand for any place of rampant vice: The preacher called Las Vegas a modern Sodom and Gomorrah.
