King Tut

Egyptian teenage monarch

King Tut is the informal name for Tutankhamun, an Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty who ruled in the 14th century BCE and died as a teenager.

His tomb, discovered nearly intact in 1922, contained spectacular treasures including his golden death mask.

The name appears in casual references to ancient Egypt: The museum's King Tut exhibit drew record crowds.
