Judge

Honorific for magistrates

A judge is an official who presides over legal proceedings, deciding questions of law and sometimes determining guilt or sentencing.

By extension, anyone who evaluates or decides can be a judge: judges at a talent competition, a good judge of character.

To judge is to form an opinion or make a determination: Don't judge me.

Judgment often carries moral weight—to judge someone is to assess their conduct, sometimes critically: Who are you to judge?
