evaluate

Judge the worth

When you evaluate someone or something, you investigate with a view to making a judgment about value or worth: The experiment will evaluate the effects of various dietary restrictions on dairy cattle.

The purpose of evaluating is usually to arrive at a practical decision, such as whether to continue an activity, hire or promote a person, or assign a value or grade: We need to evaluate the risks involved in making such an investment.
