inukshuk
Arctic rock stack
An inukshuk is a stone landmark built by Inuit peoples in Arctic regions, typically a human-like figure with arms outstretched.
Traditionally used for navigation, hunting, and marking significant locations across featureless tundra.
The structures have become symbols of Canadian identity and the North: An inukshuk marked the trail across the ice.
Plural: inuksuit or inukshuks.
