Hispanic America

Spanish-speaking Americas

Hispanic America refers to the Spanish-speaking countries of the Americas—Mexico, Central America, and most of South America except Brazil.

The term distinguishes these nations from Latin America, which includes Portuguese-speaking Brazil, and from the broader Americas, which encompasses English- and French-speaking regions.

Hispanic American literature flourished in the twentieth century.
