Hispanicize
Adopt Latin culture
To Hispanicize is to make Spanish or Hispanic in character, language, or culture.
A region may be Hispanicized through immigration or colonial influence.
Names get Hispanicized when adapted to Spanish spelling or pronunciation: Johann became Juan when the family Hispanicized it.
The term appears in discussions of demographic and cultural change, sometimes neutrally, sometimes with political overtones.
