Hermann Goering
Hermann Goering (also spelled Göring) was a leading Nazi official in Hitler's Germany—commander of the Luftwaffe, founder of the Gestapo, and designated successor to Hitler until falling from favor near the war's end.
Convicted of war crimes at Nuremberg, he committed suicide hours before his scheduled execution.
His name evokes Nazi brutality and the corruption of power: He ran that department like Hermann Goering.
