Heraclitus

Greek flux thinker

Heraclitus was a Greek philosopher of the 5th century BCE, known for the doctrine that all things are in constant flux.

His most famous teaching holds that you cannot step into the same river twice—the water has changed, and so have you.

He wrote in aphorisms so cryptic that ancients called him "the Obscure."
