HMS Hood
Sunk by Bismarck
HMS Hood was a British battlecruiser, the largest warship in the world when launched in 1920 and a symbol of British naval power between the wars.
The Hood was sunk by the German battleship Bismarck in 1941, exploding and killing all but three of her 1,418 crew—a loss that shocked Britain and intensified the hunt for the Bismarck.
