deep six
Throw it overboard
Deep six means to discard, destroy, or bury something completely.
The phrase comes from nautical slang—six fathoms (36 feet) being deep enough to ensure something sunk stays sunk.
To deep-six a project is to kill it permanently; to deep-six evidence is to make it disappear: They deep-sixed the incriminating documents.
