Greek temples

Columned classical shrines

Greek temples were religious structures built in ancient Greece to house cult statues of deities.

They featured distinctive columned architecture—Doric, Ionic, or Corinthian orders—and served as the focal point of worship rather than gathering spaces for worshippers, who performed rituals outside.

The Parthenon in Athens is the most famous example.

The ruins of Greek temples still draw millions of visitors to the Mediterranean.
