Ghost
Spirit of deceased
A ghost is the spirit or apparition of a dead person, believed to appear to the living.
Ghosts haunt houses, rattle chains, and populate folklore worldwide.
Extended meanings follow the idea of something insubstantial or barely present: a ghost of a smile, the ghost of a chance.
A ghostwriter produces work credited to someone else.
To ghost someone is to cut off contact abruptly without explanation: He ghosted me after three dates.
To give up the ghost is to die or stop functioning.
